Fat from the patient's body, extracted from the thighs or stomach region, for instance, is centrifuged and the vital fat cells are injected under the skin to smoothen out wrinkles or to shape the lips and emphasize the cheeks. A partial resorption of the fat occurs, but almost always, the fat taken from the patient's own body remains, unlike the commercial preparations such as hyaluronic acid, which gets metabolised 100%.
