Service spectrum for restorative surgery: Scar
corrections Correcting
facial scars presents a special challenge. For years the so-called “geometric
broken line correction” has been carried out successfully at the
Klinik Professor Sailer, leading in many cases to scars that are barely
discernible. In addition, a so-called eversion technique, in which Professor
Sailer has specialised in advanced professional training sessions, makes
very fine scar formation possible. A detailed counselling discussion
is essential. Tumour
surgery Today one
increasingly observes diseases involving tumours on the skin of the
face (basalioma, melanoma) and the oral mucosa (carcinoma) or their
early stages. One can obtain the best chances of a cure with surgical
treatment. Unavoidable defects of the soft tissues of the face or of
the jawbones are usually reconstructed immediately, from functional
and aesthetic points of view, with the patient’s own bone. Alveolar
crest augmentation In cases
of reduced bone volume the body’s own bone or replacement material
may be transplanted to the upper and lower jaws. This makes possible
the subsequent placement of artificial tooth roots made of titanium
or very newly of ceramics (zirconium dioxyde) (dental implants), which
permit a firmly embedded, aesthetically advanced dental prosthesis.
Perfect dental occlusion and a faultless dental prosthesis are also
essential for a harmonious facial profile. Oral surgical
procedures Oral surgical
procedures include smaller operations on the teeth or the adjacent structures.
They aid with tooth retention or the averting of possible complications
of the masticatory system. They are frequently performed under local
anaesthesia, but can also be performed in deep sleep or under general
anaesthesia. The indications for an oral surgery procedure, such as
a root tip amputation or operative removal of a wisdom tooth, exposure
of impacted teeth, operations on cysts, draining of dental abscesses,
sampling of oral mucosal changes, are carried out usually upon referral
from your attending dentist or physician. Malformation
surgery Congenital
deformities like facial clefts, syndromes and growth disorders are corrected
during complex surgical procedures. Snoring
/ Sleep apnoea Operative repositioning of the upper and lower jaws for expansion of the airways and thereby for the prevention of sleep apnoea (loud snoring and breathing pauses during sleep with a drop in blood oxygen saturation, which can lead to severe organ damage, such as a decline in brain cells and risk of heart attack). The so-called bimaxillary operation leads, at the same time, to a more pleasing facial harmony and improved occlusion. Preoperatively a special diagnosis is carried out in a referral sleep laboratory. |
