Tumour surgery
People only grow older, and the skin is constantly exposed to harmful effects. Today, many more tumour diseases related to facial skin (basalioma, melanoma) and the oral mucous membrane (carcinoma) or their preliminary stages are observed . The face is the most important organ of communication for human beings; it is the most powerful expression of a person's identity. A malignant alteration, e. g. caused by a tumour, can be equivalent to the loss of one's identity.
The best chances of a cure can be achieved if a tumour is early detected and surgical treatment is not too extensive. Unavoidable defects in the soft facial tissue or the jaw bone are usually reconstructed immediately with soft tissue surgery and using the patient's own bone (e. g. reconstruction of the mandible), keeping in mind the functional and aesthetic aspects. The aim is to completely recreate both the function as well as the appearance.
