Surgery in the case of diseases of the skin and mucous membrane

The operative treatment of congenital and acquired changes to the skin and mucous membranes has now become a matter of routine at the Klinik Professor Sailer.
This includes congenital anomalies of the blood vessels (port-wine stains) and the various forms of cancer on the facial skin and the mucous membranes. One special aesthetic and functional challenge is the reconstructive surgery of tumours on the eye lids, lips and the nose.
Here, top priority is given to saving the sensitive nervus trigeminus and the motor facial nerve which is important for facial expressions. It is extremely important to view the aesthetics, the expressive aspects and the function of the face as the most important organ of communication. This holds good even during the removal of tumours and in the reconstruction of defects. The Privatklinik Bethanien has special nerve detectors that make preparations in the region of the face easier and minimise the patient's risk of a nerve injury.
Even extensive body tattoos that have been treated already without success can be removed with the help of special surgical methods. Exaggerated injected lips that are very pronounced can be given a nice shape again and made functional by Prof. Sailer.

Benign and malignant lesions to the skin

Benign and malignant lesions to the skin (naevi, basalioma, spinalioma, melanoma etc.) are generally treated and removed by the dermatologist. Bigger changes in various regions of the body and those on the nose, the angles of the eyes, the eyelids and lips, which could lead to extensive resection defects, are treated using the methods of reconstructive plastic surgery.
