Narrow face

Functional and aesthetic correction of a narrow face

Professor Sailer differentiates between two shapes: a narrow face with a normal profile and normal cephalometric proportions and a narrow long face. These two types of narrow faces require different surgical treatments. A narrow face with normal profile proportions can be widened using augmentation and expansion plastic surgery.

A narrow long face, on the other hand, must be shortened vertically, by raising the upper jaw and/or using chin height reduction surgery, for example. This is a routine technique of orthodontic (orthognathic) surgery.
