Aesthetic and Plastic Body Treatments

The body changes over the course of a lifetime. Weight fluctuations, hormonal processes, genetic predisposition and the natural process of ageing – all of these leave their mark. Even with an optimal lifestyle, a gap can sometimes open up between what we see in the mirror and how we feel inside. This can reach the point where everyday life is noticeably affected and quality of life suffers. Aesthetic and plastic body surgery steps in precisely here: it can bring form and function back into alignment, relieve physical discomfort, and restore a natural sense of self.

Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery

At the SailerClinic, aesthetic and plastic body surgery encompasses a broad spectrum of surgical and conservative procedures, all centred on your well-being: loose skin after weight loss, changes in the shape of the breasts, stubborn fat deposits or functional complaints such as excessive sweating are all widespread human concerns. When they begin to weigh on your self-esteem, our specialists – drawing on long-established procedures – can open up a new quality of life for you.

In what follows, we present a selection from our range of services. Which procedure is appropriate in your case, and indeed whether surgery is the right path at all, depends on your medical indication and overall health as well as on your personal expectations. In a no-obligation initial consultation, we are happy to discuss with you what an operation can and cannot achieve.

Frequently asked questions

A surgical procedure on the body is advisable when physical changes can no longer be addressed by conservative means and are weighing on you noticeably in daily life or in how you see yourself. Functional issues – such as painful folds of skin after substantial weight loss, or pronounced sweating – can likewise constitute a medical indication for surgery.
Ideally, your body weight should be stable and your general state of health good. Before any planned procedure, we recommend allowing sufficient time after pregnancy, refraining from smoking for several weeks before and after the operation, and a realistic sense of what the surgery is meant to change for you. In a detailed initial consultation, we are happy to clarify with you whether the medical and personal prerequisites for your desired procedure are met.
Every surgical lifting or tightening procedure involves injury to the tissue and will therefore leave scars. The decisive questions are how visible they remain and where they run. Our specialists deliberately place incisions so that they blend as far as possible into the natural contours of the body or into areas covered by underwear and swimwear. The success of wound healing depends on your genetics and lifestyle, but is supported as well as possible by careful aftercare and, where appropriate, additional scar therapy.
Recovery time varies considerably depending on the type of procedure. After liposuction, many people return to everyday activities within just a few days, whereas an abdominoplasty or extensive skin tightening requires several weeks of taking it easy. Procedures on the breast usually involve one to three weeks off work; physical activities such as sport should typically be avoided for six to eight weeks
Procedures performed for purely aesthetic reasons are in most cases not covered, either by basic health insurance or by supplementary insurance. Where there is a medical indication, however, the procedure may be covered by your insurance.

Our Aesthetic and Plastic Services for a New Sense of Self

Aesthetic and plastic surgery does more than relieve or correct physical complaints. In many cases, it also lifts mental blocks and inhibitions that affected individuals have carried with them for a large part of their lives. With the following services, our specialists aim to give you a renewed sense of confidence and the comforting feeling of being thoroughly at ease in your own skin.

Breast reduction (reduction mammoplasty)

A breast reduction is an operation in which excess breast tissue, fat and skin are removed to make the breasts smaller and lighter. Common reasons for the procedure include back and neck pain, skin problems, or limitations in everyday life and sport. It is carried out under general anaesthesia and usually takes several hours. A special support bra needs to be worn afterwards, and physical exertion must be avoided for a few weeks. Possible risks include scarring, infection and changes in sensation. For many patients, the procedure proves life-changing, bringing greater well-being and a marked improvement in quality of life.

Breast augmentation with implants or autologous fat (augmentation mammoplasty)

A breast augmentation is performed either with implants or with the patient’s own fat. Implants are a suitable option when a substantial increase in volume is desired; they vary in shape, size, surface and filler material, and are selected individually. A more moderate, particularly natural-looking increase in volume, by contrast, is well achieved through fat-transfer augmentation, which combines breast enlargement with contouring of other body regions by means of a preceding liposuction.

Breast lift (mastopexy)

When a breast has lost shape and firmness through pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations or natural ageing, it can be lifted. In this procedure, our specialists reshape glandular and skin tissue, reposition the nipple to an anatomically correct location, and remove excess skin. The result is a firmer, more youthful breast shape with preserved nipple sensitivity and a natural-looking contour.

Augmentation mastopexy (breast augmentation with lift)

When a breast has lost both volume and firmness, a simple augmentation or a simple lift will often not be enough to deliver the desired result. Augmentation mastopexy therefore combines both procedures, lifting the breast while restoring its volume with an implant or with autologous fat. This demanding combination requires the precise reconciliation of two inherently opposing principles – adding volume and tightening skin. Particularly after pregnancy and breastfeeding, or after significant weight loss, it can deliver a very harmonious overall result.

Correction of breast asymmetry

A certain degree of breast asymmetry is normal and is present in most women. Where the difference in size or shape is clearly visible, however, and felt as a burden, a surgical correction can restore well-being. Depending on the initial findings, our specialists combine augmentations, reductions, lifts or fat transfers; in many cases, a different procedure is used on one side than on the other. The aim of the intervention is a form that is as symmetrical and harmonious as possible, that suits the patient’s stature, and that preserves both the sensation and mobility of the breast.

Correction of inverted nipples (nipple inversion)

Correction of inverted nipples is a minor surgical procedure used to treat nipples that are drawn inwards. The cause may lie in shortened milk ducts or firm connective tissue. In the procedure, the nipple is carefully released and reshaped outwards. It is usually performed under local anaesthesia and takes only a short time. Mild swelling or sensitivity may occur after the operation.

Male breast reduction (gynaecomastia)

Male breast reduction is used to treat an enlarged male chest (gynaecomastia). The enlargement may stem from excess fatty tissue or from an enlarged mammary gland. In the procedure, fat and/or glandular tissue are removed so that the chest appears flatter and more masculine. The operation is usually performed under general or local anaesthesia. A compression garment then needs to be worn for several weeks.

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)

Anyone who suffers from excessive sweating knows how much hyperhidrosis can disrupt daily life. When antiperspirants or iontophoresis fail to bring the desired relief, a targeted botulinum toxin injection can substantially reduce the activity of the sweat glands for several months. In particularly severe cases of hyperhidrosis, surgical procedures for the permanent removal of the sweat glands are also an option, providing effective and lasting relief even from pronounced symptoms.

Rejuvenation of hands, neck and décolleté with autologous fat

Rejuvenation of the hands, neck or décolleté with autologous fat is a natural method of refreshing the skin and restoring volume. Fat is harvested from another part of the body, prepared, and then injected precisely into the desired areas. The skin can take on a fuller, smoother and more youthful appearance. The treatment is usually carried out under local anaesthesia and leaves only small puncture sites. Mild swelling or bruising may occur after the procedure.

Female intimate surgery (labiaplasty)

Female intimate surgery covers surgical or aesthetic procedures in the female genital area. Among the most common is reduction of the inner labia. Depending on the type of procedure, treatment is carried out under local or general anaesthesia. This is a very sensitive and personal subject, and many women feel unable to speak about it for a long time. We offer consultations in a confidential atmosphere, woman to woman.

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)

After pregnancy, or following significant weight loss, the abdominal wall may become slack. In an abdominoplasty, this loose skin is removed, the straight abdominal muscles – which have often separated (rectus diastasis) – are brought back together, and the contour of the abdomen is remodelled. Where useful, we can combine this procedure with targeted liposuction in the flanks to achieve a harmonious waistline. The incision runs along the lower abdomen and can be easily concealed beneath underwear and swimwear.

Upper arm lift (brachioplasty)

Sagging, loose skin on the upper arms can rarely be eliminated through exercise alone – all the more so after substantial weight loss. Brachioplasty removes excess tissue from the inner side of the upper arms and tightens the remaining skin. The incision runs discreetly along the inner side of the upper arm and is rendered as inconspicuous as possible through subsequent scar therapy.

Liposuction

In liposuction, our specialists remove localised, stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise – typically on the abdomen, hips (saddlebags), flanks, thighs, knees, upper arms or in the chin area. Modern, gentle techniques allow us to treat even larger volumes with precision and minimal impact on the surrounding tissue.

Lipoedema and lymphoedema – consultation and second opinion

The chronic conditions of lipoedema and lymphoedema are often diagnosed late, or even classified incorrectly. Lipoedema is a painful, pathological build-up of subcutaneous fat tissue, primarily affecting the legs and arms, and is frequently genetic in origin. Lymphoedema, by contrast, involves an acquired or congenital impairment of drainage in the lymphatic system, which can give rise to a variety of symptoms. Both conditions call for careful differential diagnosis and a stepwise approach to treatment, in which conservative measures and, in certain cases, highly specialised procedures can both play a role. The specialists at SailerClinic are happy to offer you a well-founded consultation and, on request, a second opinion. This can be particularly useful when previous diagnoses have remained unclear or when a proposed treatment plan deserves a second look.
